Trudy Jacobson presents:  Rebecca Anne LoCicero, Psychic Medium

Rebecca’s profession as a Psychic Medium was born out of the simple love for talking with people and helping them. She understands that there are many so-called ‘psychics’ out there that are overly gimmicky, who rely on props and are not truly psychic.

But not Rebecca.

Her strategy is simple, just be herself. No need for elaborate schemes, or misleading people. She simply is herself.

“To be a single mom and an independent woman and trying to start a business where you talk to dead people for a living, and you have a horrible sense of humor and a great love for whiskey, I kind of had to be real,” Rebecca said.

Her journey into the psychic medium is quite interesting. She didn’t decide to pursue clients, they went to her.

Years ago, Rebecca went into the retail field because she enjoyed talking with people. She wanted to expand on this idea, so she pursued a trade in cosmetology. It was then that she found her true purpose in life.

Rebecca said, “I started to see people coming to me not because they wanted to get their nails done, it was more like ‘do my nails, I don’t care what color they are, read me.’”

She also understands it’s a unique profession that many people are skeptical of. Prior to starting an official business as a psychic medium, she was met with obstacles, negative feedback and pessimists who told her she couldn’t do it.

But she pursued her passion and followed through with it despite all the naysayers. And now she carries a message for all women to do the same.

“I think it’s important to not let anyone tell you that you can or can’t do something because it’s not the norm. I think that women should make sure they’re paying attention to that intuition and do the same thing,” she said.

And that’s exactly what women should do.

Trudy Jacobson presents: Jenilee Wirtz of Carefree Boating

Jenilee Wirtz of Carefree Boating in Connecticut has fond memories of boating with her family as a child. She recalls spending entire summer days out in the boat with her father, enjoying beautiful weather and creating lasting memories. Although her father has since passed away (may he continue to rest in peace) Jenilee still carries with her those precious memories.

Now Jenilee wants to help create more memories, but not for her. She wants to help families everywhere build precious moments that will create lasting memories.

And she wants to do it with the one thing she is very passionate about- boating.

“Just that time that we spend out on the water, when it’s quiet and you’re out there and you’ve got a line in the water, that’s where the good stuff is. We’re constantly getting families out,” Jenilee said.

Jenilee combined her passion of boating and her ambition to succeed as a professional woman and entrepreneur and created Carefree Boating. The membership-based boat club provides its members a boat to use without all the hassle and commitment that is involved with owning a boat; washing, cleaning, refueling, etc. It’s a model Jenilee calls ‘boating without owning.’

Her dual goals of helping families build memories and building a business around boating he been very successful overall- but it wasn’t an easy venture.

Boating has always been a male-dominated industry, but that didn’t shy Jenilee away from pursuing her dreams. In fact, not only has she pursued her dreams of running a successful boating business, but she developed a passion along the way that wants more women to become empowered.

“It’s been such a thing, ‘the captain is the man, the woman is the first mate.’ We are making women captains, and I couldn’t be more proud of that. We have some women that have no boating experience. … we bring that for them,” Jenilee said.

Her training isn’t limited to her guests and members; she also empowers her female staff members.

“When we are able to train a female captain and get her through our training process, and get her comfortable at the helm, that is one of the most empowering feelings ever,” Jenilee said.

Jenilee’s success as an entrepreneur and as a leader resonates with women everywhere. She is a model example to women that if you believe in something and you have the passion and drive, you can overcome any obstacle no matter what industry you are in.

Her final message to future female entrepreneurs everywhere is, “I would just say go for it… We get an idea that we’re scared to jump into it, you’ve got to take the first step and you’ve got to go for it. It’s ok if you fail, just go for it.”

Trudy Jacobson presents: Theresa Sharpe of Manchester Cheesecake Company

You can’t make cheesecakes.

Those were the words that Theresa faced when the subject of making cheesecake came up between her and her boyfriend. Instead of bowing down and accepting defeat, she rose and stood up to the challenge.

“He challenged me to a recipe I had found. Once I started, I had to perfect it, so I made it a million times until it was perfect,” Theresa said.

Once she perfected the art of making cheesecake, Theresa started making them for her regular bartending customers. She went on to give them to her friends and family, all of whom were more than happy to pay her.

Once covid hit, her bar was forced to shut its doors. But as an entrepreneur, Theresa wasn’t going to sit around and wait for things to open back up.

“I started making the switch over to a business once covid hit and I had lost my job. If I don’t try to do this now, I’ll never do it because now I have the opportunity,” she said.

Theresa took her stimulus check and every bit of grit and determination, and with the help of her grandfather who offered her the space to make cheesecakes, she went live with the business in November 2020.

And it took off.

Buy this time, members in the community were already aware of her delicious cheesecakes and wanted a piece of the action, literally.

She hit the ground running and started pumping out large 10” cakes, which sold quickly.

But it wasn’t long before she hit her first major obstacle.

“I was getting ready for the Christmas round, and I actually caught Covid. I had about 35-40 cheesecakes that I threw away. I ruined about 20 people’s Christmas’ because they didn’t have their cheesecakes,” Theresa said.

With the same determination and entrepreneurialism she displayed in the beginning, she went back to the drawing board to come up with a new strategy.

Theresa developed the individual sized cheesecake, which were more convenient for customers and easier to sell. In just two months’ time, she increased production 400%!

Theresa now feels she has the answers to her previous struggles. She found a passion in making and selling cheesecakes, has more control of her life and is much happier. And now she wants other women to follow their paths to happiness.

“I encourage other women to do the same and just find that love and be able to make a living on it.”

Sound advice.
